Why this happens
Top notes evaporate faster than mid or base notes. If a candle is stored uncovered or in heat/sun, the volatile fraction dissipates and the customer's second candle smells nothing like the first. Layering and lidded cure both slow this.

- Stored uncovered or in heat/sunlight.
- Insufficient cure before sealing in the lid.
How to diagnose
- Compare scent at 1, 14, and 30 days after pour.
- Check storage conditions.
