Scent throw
Candle smells weak in the jar before lighting
Cold throw is the scent the candle releases at room temperature. It sells the candle. If a cold throw is weak, the fragrance is either too light, too quickly evaporating, or has not finished blooming through the wax.

Likely causes
- Fragrance is naturally a 'hot throw' oil (e.g. vanilla, woods).
- Insufficient cure time.
- Fragrance load too low.
- Storage with lid open allowed cold throw to dissipate.
How to diagnose
- Smell the candle 24 h, 7 days, and 14 days after pour; track the difference.
- Check whether the fragrance supplier lists 'strong cold throw' on the spec.
What to change next batch
- 01
Cure with the lid on for at least 14 days.
- 02
Layer in a 'top note' FO known for cold throw (citrus, mint, fresh florals).
- 03
Increase fragrance load by 1 percentage point.
