Appearance
Rough or grainy tops after cure
Rough tops happen when the surface of the wax sets in stages rather than as a single sheet. Most common in soy at the wrong pour temperature.

Likely causes
- Pour temperature too low for the wax to self-level.
- Candle was moved or jostled during set.
- Cold ambient temperature.
How to diagnose
- Check candle for any movement during the first 4 hours of cure.
- Compare pour temp to wax spec.
What to change next batch
- 01
Heat-gun the top on a low setting to re-melt the first 2 mm; let it set undisturbed.
- 02
Pour 3–5°C warmer and on a heated cure surface if your studio is cold.
- 03
Do not move the candle for at least 4 hours after pouring.
