Vanilla Classic, 8 oz Soy Tumbler
Every chandler should pour this once. It teaches you what 'right' looks like: a flat creamy top, a clean memory ring, throw without harshness. Once you can pour this you can pour anything.
Ingredients
- 460 gGolden Brands 464 Soy
- WickCD 10
- 2×8 oz Straight-Sided Tumbler
- 8.0%Vanilla Bean (Fragrance Oil)
- Pour57°C
Burn notes
Burn time approx. 45 hours per 8 oz vessel. Throw becomes obvious from day five.
Method
- 01
Weigh the wax into a pouring pitcher to the gram. Accuracy here decides everything downstream.
- 02
Heat the wax in a double boiler to 80°C, stirring gently until fully clear. Do not exceed 85°C.
- 03
Take the pitcher off the heat. Let the wax cool to 62°C, then stir in fragrance and dye, if used, for a full two minutes.
- 04
Continue cooling, stirring occasionally, until the wax reaches 57°C.
- 05
Pre-warm the vessels in a 50°C oven for ten minutes. Centre the wick, fix it with a wick bar.
- 06
Pour in a single steady stream into one side of the vessel until full. Do not move the vessels for at least four hours.
- 07
Cure undisturbed at room temperature for 14 days before the first burn. The scent throw climbs the entire time.
- 08
Trim the wick to 5 mm before lighting. Burn the first time for two hours minimum to set the memory ring.
