Garden Bench, CB Advanced Blend

A nuanced blend candle: bright top, sweet base. Splitting the load across two oils keeps the total at 10% so the wax stays inside spec.

Ingredients

  • 480 gCB Advanced (Coconut-Apricot Blend)
  • WickCD 10
  • Libbey 2917 Status Tumbler
  • 5.0%Fresh Cut Grass (Fragrance Oil)
  • 5.0%Vanilla Bean (Fragrance Oil)
  • Pour65°C

Burn notes

Approx. 50 hours per Libbey. Grass dominates hot throw, vanilla emerges as the wax cools.

Method

  1. 01

Weigh the wax. CB Advanced is creamy and forgiving but rewards careful temperature control.

  2. 02

Heat to 82°C, stirring until uniform. Avoid scorching, never exceed 90°C.

  3. 03

Let the wax fall to 71°C, then add fragrance. Stir slowly for at least two minutes.

  4. 04

Cool to 65°C, swirling occasionally to prevent the wax from setting on the pitcher walls.

  5. 05

Pre-warm vessels in a 55°C oven for ten minutes. Centre the wick.

  6. 06

Pour smoothly. CB Advanced gives a flat, creamy top with a single pour when temperatures are right.

  7. 07

Cure for 14 days. Scent throw on this wax keeps developing past the first week.

  8. 08

Trim to 5 mm. Allow a full melt pool on the first burn, usually two and a half hours.
