Single fragrance or blend up to 3

Most chandlers stop at three fragrances. Beyond that the notes muddy and throw weakens. Each fragrance keeps its own IFRA Category 12 cap, and the label below merges allergens and hazard data across the whole mix.

Choose your wax and vessel, then add one fragrance or blend up to three. Each FO keeps its own IFRA Category 12 (candles) safe-use cap, the binding lowest-flash-point fragrance drives the pour-temperature ceiling, and the safety preview merges allergens and hazard data across the whole mix.

Frequently asked

How much fragrance oil per pound of wax?
At an 8% fragrance load, use 1.28 oz (36 g) of fragrance oil per pound of wax. At 10%, use 1.6 oz (45 g). Never exceed your wax's manufacturer maximum (usually 10–12%) or any individual fragrance's IFRA Category 12 cap, whichever is lower.
How much fragrance oil for an 8 oz candle?
An 8 oz (240 mL) jar of soy holds about 216 g of total fill. At 8% load that's 199 g of wax and 17 g of fragrance oil; at 10% it's 195 g of wax and 22 g of fragrance oil. The calculator above does the math for any vessel and batch size.
Can you blend more than one fragrance oil in a candle?
Yes. Most chandlers stop at three fragrances per blend — beyond that the notes muddy and throw weakens. Each fragrance must independently stay under its IFRA Category 12 limit at its share of the total load, which is why the calculator caps the slider against the binding fragrance, not just the wax.
What is the maximum fragrance load for soy wax?
Most soy waxes accept 8 to 10% fragrance load. Going above 10% causes the oil to seep out (sweating) and weakens cold throw rather than strengthening it.
Why doesn't more fragrance equal stronger throw?
Wax has a finite capacity to bind fragrance molecules. Past that point, the oil pools and seeps instead of dispersing into the melt pool, which actually weakens throw.
How does flash point affect pour temperature?
Pour at least 5°C below the lowest flash point in your blend. The calculator's flash strip flags the binding fragrance, suggests a safe pour temperature, and warns when the wax's minimum pour is hotter than the FO can tolerate — in that case, swap to a higher-flash fragrance or a lower-pouring wax.
